Landscape Designing, Potting up natives and Mulching
Today Richard Ashcroft came back to Earth School with 3 different designs he had prepared based on the students research and requests for the back field. Richard came in two weeks ago to work with the students and gather all their research and designs together to come up with some design options from those ideas to show to the students. Option 1
All three designs combine elements of running/cross country track with adventure playground weaving about a permaculture style farm. Option 1 has a large fenced nature and water storage pond for biological and bug lab work and concentric circles and spirals define lavender and market garden spaces and create interest and fun in the farm landscape.
Option 2
Uses more traditional rectangular vegetable beds in the market garden area and orchard, although it does have a flying fox and a lookout tower.
Option 3
Is a full scale food forest farm using the koru theme and more native bush planting.
The outside team worked hard potting native seedlings and mulching the outdoor classroom.
