Nutting out a Design and Bug Hotels
Bug Hotels attract beneficial insects to a garden by providing spaces for them to live. They can come in a variety of shapes and sizes depending on the specific purpose or specific insect it is catered to. Most consist of several different sections that provide insects with nesting facilities – particularly during winter, offering shelter or refuge for many types of insects.
The kids loved making bug hotels! They used bamboo, wood, macrocarpa fence pailings kindly donated by Ticehurst in Carterton, twigs, pinecones amd flax. We are going to continue making these for several weeks. Our bug hotel will be a large pyramid with a living roof.
